Meet Kavitha Sreeharsha

Hi there!

I am Kavitha Sreeharsha, a Strategic Consultant providing advisory services in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, with a special focus on immigrant justice and immigration. I am also an International Coaching Federation (ICF)-certified coach and offer healing-centered coaching to entry, mid-level, and executive BIPOC leaders. I founded Ginkgo Solutions to merge the values of resilience and healing with services designed to empower social change leaders and organizations.

I believe that true change emerges from the strength of a diverse ecosystem of organizations. My mission is to collaborate with leaders and organizations to help them access and expand their power. With over 25 years of experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my partners. Throughout my career in philanthropy, I have managed portfolios worth over eight figures and have funded and supported more than 250 organizations and projects.

Most recently, I led Emerson Collective’s Immigrant Justice Philanthropy, where I transformed Emerson Collective into one of the leading national funders in the immigrant justice space over eight years. By providing bespoke support to build organizational capacity and strategy, I have developed a deep commitment to helping organizations grow and thrive. Before joining Emerson Collective, I served as a Program Officer at the Sobrato Family Foundation, leading investments in critical safety net and career pathways programs for low-income Silicon Valley residents.

My expertise in program design and organizational strength stems from over a decade of nonprofit immigrant rights work as a direct services immigration attorney, public policy advocate, and provider of national technical assistance. I have designed numerous programs delivering direct legal services, multi-sector coalition building, policy advocacy, and training and technical assistance. I have also managed several federally-funded programs and have worked within the federal government at the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. Additionally, I authored the book “Freedom for All,” which assists individuals in identifying and accessing protections for trafficked and exploited undocumented workers. These varied experiences have solidified my belief that social change must be multi-tactical and requires a tapestry of impactful programming.

I am a proud alum of U.C. Berkeley and U.C. Law San Francisco (formerly Hastings College of the Law). My immigrant parents instilled in me a strong value for justice, and I am motivated every day by my spirited daughter to build a more just society.
